Discussion

This spit was excavated specifically to define the group of post holes 012AD07087. The material removed was a medium sandy loam (Munsell colour generally 10YR 4/3, but also patches of 10YR 4/4), with 5-10% chalk inclusions. No daub or charcoal flecking was noted. The majority of the finds were late Roman pottery, although some Anglian material was also present.
